Privacy policy
Who this covers
West Point Aerospace Society (“WPAS,” “we,” or “us”) operates this public website and the WPAS member platform. This notice describes information handled when you visit the public site, contact us, request membership, or use the member platform. External event-registration and other linked services have their own notices for information you provide directly to them.
Public-site visits and inquiries
If you email us, we receive the information you choose to include, such as your name, email address, and message. The public site does not currently offer an on-page contact or payment form. Visits may generate technical information such as IP address, browser and device details, requested pages, and approximate location derived from an IP address in hosting and security logs. The events page requests public event listings from our event-data provider.
Member accounts and applications
When you request membership, we collect your email address, first and last name, class year, and any preferred name or former surname you provide. We use these details to create your account and review your application. Supabase handles email/password authentication. Membership administrators can review applications and decide whether to approve them. Creating or signing in to an account does not automatically approve membership.
Optional LinkedIn sign-in
You may choose to sign in with LinkedIn or connect it to an existing account. LinkedIn and our authentication provider exchange identifiers and authorization information to authenticate you and associate your LinkedIn identity with your WPAS account. Depending on what LinkedIn makes available, this may include your name, email address, and profile-photo URL. You can choose to copy a LinkedIn name and photo into your member profile. Standard LinkedIn sign-in does not provide WPAS with your employment or education history, graduation year, contacts, or LinkedIn profile URL; you may add professional background or a profile URL yourself. LinkedIn sign-in does not verify West Point graduation or replace membership review.
Member profiles and locations
You choose the professional and biographical details you add, such as organization, role, industry, cadet company, expertise, education, and optional home, work-base, or commute-origin city and state. Directory participation is optional. If you enable it, the directory information you choose to share is visible to other approved members. Your verification names, former surname, and account email are not shown in the member directory. You can separately choose whether shared cities appear on the member map. Map points represent city reference locations, not street addresses or device GPS locations.
Programs and learning
The member platform stores mentorship offers and requests, matching information, and lesson progress to provide programs you choose to use. Administrators handle mentorship matching, and an assigned mentor can see the request associated with that match. Under the platform’s current access controls, lesson progress is private to the member. Administrators maintain shared courses, events, and resources.
How information is used and shared
We use information to operate and protect our services, review membership, provide the member features you choose, display events, respond to inquiries, and support WPAS activities. We share information with providers that help us host the services, authenticate accounts, store data, deliver email, or provide event and map content, and when required by law. Member information is shared with other approved members only through the features and visibility choices described above.
Retention and security
We retain member account and profile information while your account is active. After an account closes, how long particular records are kept depends on operational, security, and legal needs. Correspondence and technical records may have different retention periods. We use reasonable safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You can edit your member profile and turn off directory or map visibility in the member platform. The platform does not currently have a self-service account-deletion control. To ask about closing your account, removing information, access, correction, or a LinkedIn connection, email support@westpointaerospace.org. If you are signed out and cannot access your account, you can request a password-reset link to regain access or contact us directly. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us so we can review it.

Website terms
Purpose and permitted use
This site shares information about WPAS, its mission, events, and community. You may use it for lawful personal and informational purposes. Please do not misuse the site, interfere with its operation, or attempt unauthorized access.
Accuracy and examples
We work to keep information current, but event details and other content can change. The alumni profiles and paths shown in the homepage network visualization are illustrative, not a live member directory. Organization names and marks shown as examples do not, by themselves, imply employment, partnership, sponsorship, or endorsement.
Content and outside services
Site text, design, and WPAS materials may not be reused in a way that suggests WPAS endorsement without permission. Third-party names, logos, and other materials belong to their respective owners. Links to outside sites are provided for convenience; their content and practices are outside our control. Event participation or other external services may be subject to separate terms presented by the relevant provider.
